The towers are appearing!

Image
The Westside 6 towers are getting installed! On Friday, they started to bring the towers up the mountain for installation. They continued the process today despite the challenging weather and extremely wet terrain. They have the seven towers in place and two of the towers are complete! It won't be long before we are loading the Westside 6! In other news, I sent an email this week with a call to action for people to register for the program! For all returning registrations received on, or after December 1st, there will be a late fee of $300.00. For coaches and employees, please contact me or Victoria in Franz's office to make sure we account for your athletes in the planning process. It is crucial that we have accurate numbers when staffing each age group within our program. Thank you for registering and allowing the WRF staff to plan ahead for the season!

Snow, lift, and the World Cup season opener!

Things are pretty quiet around Windham. Actually, they are extremely quiet! We have seemingly moved from foliage season directly to stick season around here with some windy evenings doing a number on any leaves that might have been hanging on for peepers. I can gladly report that we had our first snow! The ground is still too warm for anything to stick, but snow on top of the mountain was pretty exciting! SNOW! The lift progress is continuing to move along and they look to be focusing their efforts on the base terminal. The lift towers and their tops are nearly all assembled in the parking lot and are awaiting their placements. It has been fun to see them slowly grow this week! Here are some photos of recent progress: While our season is not quite here, the World Cup season opener is less than a week away! Both the ladies and men kick off the World Cup season in Soelden, Austria. Both genders will be racing GS with the ladies competing on October 27th and

WRF Update

Image
Hi everyone! As the days continue to get shorter and the temps are slowly but surely dropping, I'm sure everyone is getting excited for the season. The progress on the new 6-pack lift is starting to show each day and today they brought many of the chairs to the base. I suspect we will start seeing the towers going up soon. I will post some update pictures next week. It's happening! While we were running around with Doug Lewis over Columbus Day weekend, WRF was strongly represented for the NYSSRA/VARA U14 Dryland Camp at the Olympic Training Center in Lake Placid. Athletes Jack Conneely, Aidan Fromm, McKenna Fromm, Jack Gahn, and WRF coach Todd Glick made the trek to Lake Placid to mix it up with U14's from around the state and from neighboring VARA. The focus for the camp was on basic conditioning and gathering some of the strongest U14 athletes in the Eastern Region together. By all reports, our athletes represented WRF and NYSSRA well over the course of the three day

TOUGHER! STRONGER! FITTER! FASTER!

Welcome to the Windham Race Factory blog! We will be posting weekend recaps every Monday providing a rundown and pictures of WRF happenings throughout the season. To receive the blog notifications via email, click "SUBSCRIBE" at the top of the page. Here is our first entry… TOUGHER! STRONGER! FITTER! FASTER! The WRF Fall Weekend kicked off in style with an amazing opportunity for our athletes. Caroline Mutter was the catalyst to have Olympian Doug Lewis, founder of ELITEAM, come to Windham to run our athletes through a one-day dryland clinic. Doug has created a dryland camp/clinic empire and we were fortunate enough to have him at Windham to show us what it truly means to be, “Tougher! Stronger! Fitter! Faster!” Doug's passion for ski racing and working with young athletes is extremely evident in the way he runs the clinic. For those of you who were here to witness him work, I am sure you will agree that his energy is second to none! The athletes were put thr
