February Flyby!

Image
I know February is the shortest month, but it's hard to believe that we just flew through the final weekend of the month. It's seems that not long ago we were preparing for the first weekend of program with our coaches clinic. The remainder of Flex Week Training was incredible. We had a perfect surface for the high volume days we wanted to offer our athletes. The coaching staff saw great progress throughout the week with all of our athletes running double sessions. The U14/16/19 teams trained GS and SL each day while our U8/10/12 athletes worked on free skiing skills and drills in the morning, followed by an afternoon training session with a different style set each day. Our athletes have come so far under the guidance of the coaching staff. It was amazing watching the final Mini World Cup yesterday and seeing how much the athletes have progressed since our first MWC. This season we put an added focus on using the MWC as a learning environment not just for the athlet

The need for speed!

Another weekend in the books, and another amazing two days! On Saturday, we hosted the 3rd MWC/U10K Race of the season. The athletes competed in a stubby SL in firm conditions. Firm is actually an understatement for the last pitch of Warm Up - it was polished! In the afternoon, they participated in the 3rd skills quest event of the season. Congrats to all of the athletes on a great day and thank you to the staff and volunteers for making it such a fantastic day. Sunday, we had a full slate of training on Warm Up with members from all of our teams out there. The U14/16/19's took advantage of the Lower Wedel start and ran SG all morning. They utilized the start ramp from the day before as a jump on the lower section of the hill. Athletes were flying anywhere from 20-40 feet down the hill and the coaches saw nothing but smiles in the finish. The athletes lapped all morning gaining valuable experience in speed and in the air. The U12's took advantage of our newl

Polar Vortex to a Heat Wave... Come on, Mother Nature!

Over the past two weeks, we have had two winter extremes. The Polar Vortex of two weeks ago left us with some of the best conditions we have had all season. The snow guns were firing, Warm Up was as wide as it has ever been, and the snow surface was incredible. Fast forward to a week later, we saw the temps increase to 55 degrees! Couple that with overnight rain on Wednesday and Thursday, and things were looking drastically different. If you remember from my last post, the snowmaking team had buried Warm Up and we are so fortunate that they did because when the temps increased and the rains came, we were able to survive the meltdown. B-Net game on point post meltdown! We came into last weekend with a full day of training on the docket for Saturday with our U12's running GS next to a U16/19 SL for the morning session. The afternoon saw our MWC and U10 Kandahar teams join forces for continued skill development while our neighbors at ASF set up and apex SL course for their
