What a weekend!

First...THANK YOU to all the amazing volunteers who helped us put on two great races! As you know, many hands make light work and we had both covered on Saturday and Sunday.

Saturday we hosted our first USSS race of the season with 121 U16/19 competing in an Empire Cup GS on Why Not. Getting the trail ready to host is quite the massive undertaking. Why Not requires roughly 100 B-Nets (yes, 100!) in order to properly protect the athletes while they are racing. Despite G lift being down on Friday, we were able to get everything set up with a lift on a snowcat from the snowmaking team. We also had some key help from our grooming team who brought up a basket and help us shuttle nets to the lower part of the trail. It was truly an all-mountain effort with multiple departments involved to get the hill ready for racing. We had one final net project to button up on Saturday morning but everything was set and ready for the athletes to begin inspection at 8:30AM and start the race at 9:30AM. We hit both of those marks without any problem thanks to the help of the great coaching staff of WRF. The day went off without a hitch and we stayed on schedule throughout the day. WRF athletes represented us very well on both the girls and boys side of the race. Be sure to check out the results: GIRLS & BOYS. Big thanks to our race crew for working so hard to stay on schedule - they really do an amazing job! Thank you to our volunteer wrangler, Barry Smith, for organizing all of the gatekeepers and making sure they were properly in place on time so that the race could begin as scheduled. In addition to the USSS race, our U10 Kandahar program participated in a partner race with the Adaptive Sports Foundation. Our athletes were paired with an ASF athlete in a team race format on Warm Up that saw some amazing teamwork, competition, and an overall great experience for all involved!

On Sunday, it was time for 140 U14's to compete on Why Not in an Excelsior Cup GS. It was another great showing by our program with a very well run and efficient race. After a few minor bumps in the road first run, we found our groove and cruised through the day. Thank you again to the volunteers for helping throughout the day. It not only helps us run a great race, but it frees up the coaches to do what they do best; COACH! We had great showings again on both the girls and boys side of the race, be sure to check out results: GIRLS & BOYS.

Our younger athletes are prepping for the start of their competition season. The first Mini World Cup race is this coming Saturday! Athletes had the opportunity to learn about inspection and run a few gates in preparation for their first race of the season. We are still looking for a few extra helping hands on Saturday so please let us know if you will be here and would like to help. The U12 Kandahar program is also prepping for their first race of the season which will happen next weekend at Hunter. They will be on snow this weekend continuing their progression as they get ready for their first start of the season!

Again, thank you so much to all of the volunteers who came out this past weekend to brave the cold weather and support WRF.  For all athletes, there is nothing better than competing on your home hill (especially when it's Why Not!) and without the help of so many volunteers, hosting races would not be possible. Thank you, thank you, thank you! If you are still interested in volunteering, please CLICK HERE to find our race dates and register to volunteer. Let's keep the momentum going!

Let it snow!
